2012

Hi Everyone

Welcome to our second News letter,

2012 was the start of a new venture for our Charity People-in-Need ( Worldwide ), on the 25th March Vice Chairman Joe Walker was en-route for Belarus, (Chernobyl Disaster) his mission was to give some form of help to a school in the Gomel Region of the country, having arrived and gone through all the bureaucracy Joe finally met the headmaster of school No8 at Kallinkavichi, then having talked with the headmaster it was decided that the school needed a computer and projector, Joe went and purchased the equipment at a cost of £2,000 installed it and now the students get the benefit with their studies.

Romania

Thanks again to Stena Line North Sea freight for an excellent overnight crossing from Killingholm we arrived at the Hook of Holland, fresh and ready for the next stage of our journey to Romania, we called at our friends in Holland who kindly donated some very good warm clothing for us to give to the people in the villages, and you can imagine how much they are appreciated when there are temperatures of -25c.

After two overnight stops we arrived in the city of Bacau were we are making the snoozelum at the school for children with special needs, after three days the room was completed and the children were given their first look at the equipment that we feel sure will enable the teachers and therapist, to give the children a better way of life and under standing, as for Joe and myself the looks on their faces said everything, this equipment was very expensive but money couldn’t buy what we saw, and for that we give our heart felt thanks to our supporters and sponsors.

Then it was off to our second port of call the villages in the Laza district of Vaslui and after almost three days of rain the sun shone and dried up the roads making our visit possible, those of you who read the 1st news letter and looked at the video would have seen how bad the road up to the villages are, two more days was spent helping in the villages giving out blankets, tooth paste and brushes, paracetamol, clothes, and for the village school pens pencils paper etc, we also took more than a tonne of grain to the mill and returned with the flour, the hiring of the Ford Transit van was surely put to good use and once again we thank our sponsors for making this possible.

We said our goodbye’s to the people of the village and made our way south to Ploiesti and the village’s of Baltesti & Matita were blankets, clothes and medication was distributed, from there it was north to Ghimbav where we have chosen to help a Swiss foundation refurbish an old building they have purchased next to the children’s home, and when completed it will be home for more abandoned and orphaned children, there is much to be done to this building, but we hope the work could be completed in the next 18months- 2 years, this may seam a long time but please remember all the work is done by volunteers who use holidays to do this work, so after a week of knocking out old interior walls removing floor boards in the upper rooms, and making a new entrance for the two properties via the existing garden wall, it was time for us to start our 1,500 mile journey home, it has been a very rewarding and satisfying three week for us and our Charity People-in-Need ( Worldwide ) and we send our sincere thanks to all our Sponsors and Supporters, for their kind and generous donations, without whom our work could not continue and many disadvantaged children and adults would be denied help
